We have had some amazing reading progress in Room 0 - well done to those children who have moved up a level (some moved more than 1 level).
We enjoyed wrapping up warm to walk down and see the Tour of Southland Cyclists whizz past today, we were very lucky that the sun shone the whole time we were away from school! It was a shame that Brett (who visited us at school last week) from the Share the road team had to pull out, we had made special flags to cheer him on. We were on the look out for the purple/orange and white tops - this is the share the road colours.
We had our school photos yesterday, unfortunately Mrs Eade was sick and couldn't make it to school for the photos - but never fear... Geoff the photographer is so clever, he is able to take a photo of Mrs Eade and using his computer cut and paste and make it look like she was there!
All our Tadpoles now have back legs, we said a sad goodbye to Frank the Frog on Monday, as he had turned into a frog over the weekend and needed to be released into the wild. We are sure he is loving his new home and making lots of little frog friends! It won't be long before the rest of his buddies from our class are able to join him.
Hope everyone has a warm, safe weekend, Mrs Eade will see you all on Monday for Week 3 (5 weeks to go - it's going too quickly!) Keep up with your reading.

Welcome Back to Term 4
Welcome back to Term 4 and what a busy term it is going to be! With only 7 weeks and a couple of days (1 week of which is already done and dusted!) so 6 and a bit weeks to go!
This week we will begin our practice for our Concert item, it is based around our Term 3 inquiry of Kiwiana. You will receive a note home with your child's costume requirements in due course for this.
EXCITING NEWS!!!!! We have a froglet!!!!! We've name him Frank and over the holidays some of the tadpoles got their back legs and Frank got both his back and then his front legs! He still has his tail so is not quite a frog yet. He is super cute, he likes to get up onto the rock in the fish tank and he can also climb up the side of the tank - isn't he clever!! We are so excited to see the changes our tadpoles are making - make sure you pop in to see our little friends!
We are all working hard to move up the reading rocket, we know that to become better readers we need to be reading every night, so please help us out and remind us to read our reading book to as many people as we can.
We welcomed 2 new children to the class on the first day back - Welcome Talia and Kaine. We now have 12 children in Room 0. We love that our class is growing and we have more wonderful children to interact and learn with.
We had heaps on fun on Friday dressing up as All Blacks to celebrate their World Cup trophy win! Keep an eye out on the local newspaper... we had our picture taken while doing the Haka with the rest of the school before assembly!
This term for sports we are having a rotation system working with different teachers learning different skills. Children have been reminded to make sure they wear their sports uniform on Wednesdays.

How did you go at guessing??
Speeches
We have been working on making a speech.
Our speech is about what we know about tadpoles.
We needed to complete our "burger" when making a speech, it needed an introduction (the bottom bun), our information (the filling) and a conclusion (the top bun).
Mrs Eade recorded our speeches and then we watched them and gave ourselves some feedback. We all decided we needed to speak louder and look at the camera to make our speeches better. Then Mrs Eade recorded us again and we watched to see if we had done this.
Here are our second attempt at our speeches. Do you think we have used a loud clear voice? Did we look at the camera? Leave us a comment to tell us how you think we did!

Speeches
We recorded our speeches today!
Mrs Eade is working hard to get them on the blog, but it takes a while to upload it onto the computer, so fingers crossed they are finished and on here by tomorrow!
:) Check back tomorrow to watch our fantastic speeches!

Congratulations to Ben and Chonelle - they have both learnt all 40 basic sight words!!
There were also lots of us who either moved up a level for our sight words or only have 1 or 2 to go until we can move up!
